"It's not just ethically wonderful, but getting an animal who will appreciate your love because they were abandoned is a bonus to adopting an older pet," Lavinthal said... The two agree that people have such misconceptions about felines. "It's such a myth about them not being affectionate," Corday said, "They are very loving and affectionate animals, as anyone who has ever had a cat knows." At the Animal Alliance shelter in the Hollywood Hills, cats of every stripe live in their own house, where they are fed and cared for while waiting to be adopted... The house differs from other such shelters, say Lavinthal and corday. While others may have 80 or 90 cats, some in cages, the Animal Alliance shelter limits it's population to 15 cats, who freely roam the house and backyard.
